Job Summary: The Lumber Yard Yard Supervisor is responsible for managing the daily operations of the lumber yard, ensuring efficient workflow, inventory management, and adherence to safety regulations. They oversee a team of yard workers, delegate tasks, and coordinate with other departments to meet production goals.
Responsibilities:
Supervision: Manage and supervise a team of yard workers, including hiring, training, and performance evaluation.
Inventory Management: Oversee the receiving, storage, and distribution of lumber and other building materials. Ensure accurate inventory records and coordinate with purchasing departments to maintain adequate stock levels.
Workflow Coordination: Plan and coordinate daily yard activities, including loading and unloading trucks, organizing inventory, and preparing orders for delivery. Ensure efficient workflow to meet customer demands and deadlines.
Safety Compliance: Enforce safety regulations and best practices to ensure a safe working environment for all yard workers. Conduct regular safety inspections and provide training on proper equipment operation and handling of materials.
Equipment Maintenance: Coordinate maintenance and repairs for yard equipment, such as forklifts, conveyors, and saws. Schedule routine inspections and ensure equipment is in good working condition to prevent disruptions to operations.
Customer Service: Interact with customers to fulfill orders, provide product information, and address any concerns or inquiries. Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction by providing prompt and courteous service.
Quality Control: Monitor the quality of lumber and other materials to ensure they meet company standards and customer specifications. Implement quality control measures to minimize waste and defects.
Administrative Tasks: Maintain records of yard activities, including inventory levels, orders processed, and equipment maintenance logs. Prepare reports for management on yard performance, productivity, and inventory status.
