Truss Shop Builder

Pay: $19-$25 depending on experience

 

Hours: Monday – Friday 7:30-5:30 (1 hour lunch)

                Saturday 8:00 – 5:00 (1 hour lunch) (Saturdays on a rotating schedule)

Job Summary:

The Truss Shop Laborer assists in the fabrication, assembly, and quality control of trusses for residential and commercial construction projects. This role involves working with various tools and machinery, preparing materials, and ensuring that all truss components meet the company’s standards for safety and quality.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Material Handling:
    • Load and unload materials such as wood, metal, and hardware.
    • Organize and store materials properly to ensure easy access and minimize damage.
    • Measure and cut materials to specifications using saws and other tools.
  2. Assembly:
    • Assist in the assembly of truss components, including positioning and fastening parts.
    • Use hand tools, power tools, and machinery to construct trusses according to blueprints and design specifications.
    • Ensure that all connections are secure and meet quality standards.
  3. Quality Control:
    • Inspect finished trusses for defects or inconsistencies.
    • Perform routine checks to ensure compliance with safety and design specifications.
    • Report any issues or discrepancies to the supervisor.
  4. Maintenance and Cleaning:
    • Maintain and clean tools, equipment, and work areas.
    • Perform minor repairs on tools and machinery as needed.
    • Keep the work area organized and free from hazards.
  5. Safety:
    • Follow all safety guidelines and procedures.
    • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, goggles, and hard hats.
    • Report unsafe conditions or practices to the supervisor.
  6. Collaboration:
    • Work closely with other shop workers and supervisors to complete tasks efficiently.
    • Communicate effectively to ensure that all aspects of the truss assembly are addressed.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience: Previous experience in a construction or manufacturing environment is a plus but not required.
  • Skills:
    • Basic knowledge of construction tools and equipment.
    • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
    • Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity.
    • Good physical stamina and the ability to lift and move heavy materials.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift to 50-100 pounds.
  • Capability to stand, bend, and kneel for extended periods.
  • Manual dexterity to operate tools and machinery.

Work Environment:

  • The role is performed in a shop environment with exposure to various tools and machinery.
  • The job may require working in varying temperatures and conditions.
